Equestria is one of the largest pony kingdoms of Middle Earth, spanning from the snows of the Frozen North to the sands of Bone Dry Desert.
The nation shares borders and railways with the Crystal Empire to the north, and Griffonstone to the east, while the lands to the west and south are largely undiscovered due to their inhospitability.

Equestria
The climate of Equestria is controlled by its ponies, and varies between seasons. During the first half of the year, most regions enjoy warm spring to hot summer days, while the second half cools down the waters with a fresh autumn before the winter freeze.
Due to its size, Equestria counts a wide diversity of biomes, ranging from lush woodlands to arid deserts. Several mountain ranges divide the land, while others — notably the Crystal Mountains and the Macintosh Hills — form natural barriers against the outside wilderness.
The East Alpine Region is situated in the northeastern corner of Equestria, and shares a strait with the Griffon Kingdom to the east. The central northern edge features grassy plateaus nestled in a large basin within the Crystal Mountains, upon which the popular trade town Rainbow Falls is located.
Countless waterfalls cascade down to the lowlands south and east of the mountains, where towns and villages enjoy ice-cold water all year round.
The West Alpine Region is bounded on the south by the Smokey Mountains, and on the northeast by the Galloping Gorge. The Unicorn Range also passes through the region from the southeast and curving northward, splitting it in half with a single mountain pass through the middle.
Aside from snow-capped mountains, the landscape is largely covered in mixed forests and freshwater wetlands. It borders the North Luna Ocean to the west, where the merchant port town Amblerta can be found.
The Badlands Region includes all of the Badlands, a mostly uninhabitable barren land contained within a massive dry basin. It is surrounded by steep cliffs and mountains, with a valley to the north and a canyon to the south as the only ground-level entrances.
While devoid of surface water sources and fertile soil, the region is rich in coarse sand and clay. Its landscape consists of flatlands, sand pillars and mesas.
The Celestial Region is mostly covered in leafy woodlands, with a few mountains and grasslands to the northwest. It contains the Horseshoe Bay, where the Crystal River meets the Celestial Sea, and two of the most populous towns of the eastern coast: Fillydelphia and Baltimare.
The southern border of the region is delimited by sharp mountains and brackish swamps.
The Dayspring Region is a sparsely populated highland with lush forests and snow-capped mountains. Most of its settlements are built along rivers on the northern and southern borders of the region, while the enchanted valley of Hollow Shades lies hidden in the central woodlands.
The East Desert Region includes the eastern half of the San Palomino Desert, split by the Ghost River to the west, and bounded on the south by the Macintosh Hills. It consists of mostly flat stretches of golden sand with buttes and mesas, and some rolling hills along the northwestern and southeastern borders.
The region counts a few pony settlements along patches of fertile land, but is mostly inhabited by nomadic Buffalo tribes.
The West Desert Region includes the western half of the San Palomino Desert, split by the Ghost River to the east, and bounded on the west by the Luna Ocean. The area is arid with little to no vegetation, with the exception of its grassy western cape.
Though unwelcoming, the ground in this region produces some of the highest quality stones and minerals in Equestria. For this reason, the majority of its towns and villages are mining settlements built along the river, the most prominent of which is Rockville.
The Everfree Region is a diverse land situated in central Equestria. Among its grassy hills are woodlands to the west, rocky ridges to the east, a canyon to the south, and mountains bordering the northwest. The centre of the region is marked by the Everfree Forest, an enchanted forest of historical significance after which the region was named.
The capital city of Canterlot is built on the side of the largest mountain to the north. Because of this, the northern part of the region is dominated by farmlands.
The Farthest Reaches Region is the southernmost region of Equestria. It borders the Luna Ocean to the west, the Bone Dry Desert to the south, and tall sheer cliffs to the east atop of which is the Forbidden Jungle.
The area is covered almost entirely in savage wilderness, with dense jungles and fiery swamps surrounding volcanic mountains. The only settlement in this region is the idyllic remote town of Silver Shoals on the western shore.
The Greatwoods Region is a heavily forestial region bounded on the north by the Smokey Mountains, and on the south by the Saddle River. It is composed of dense leafy woodlands to the east, and gradually transitions to giant conifers in the western valley, which are said to shroud the land in complete darkness.
The Greensward Region is a highland characterized by its expansive grassy plains and serpentine rivers. It is where Equestria was originally founded, and as such, the region contains much of the kingdom's early history.
The soil in the area is fertile yet shallow, which makes trees naturally rare. For this reason, settlements are many and prosperous, but limited to smaller towns and villages.
One of the region's most notable features is the Neighagra Falls near the eastern border, where the Neighagra River forks into dozens of large cascading waterfalls.
The Lunar Region is situated in the northwestern corner of Equestria. It contains the Luna Bay, including the Twin Isles, and is bounded on the north by the Crystal Mountains, on the west by the Luna Ocean, and on the south by the Unicorn Range.
The climate in this region is colder and stormier than most due to the wild currents coming from the northwest. The landscape features coniferous woodlands and mountains in the southern half, and everlasting snows in the northern half.
The Maretime Region is a lowland bounded on the east by the Celestial Sea. It includes the Griffish Isles, where ponies have cohabited with griffons for generations.
Near the coast of an open bay is the island city of Manehattan. It is the second-most populous city in Equestria after the capital, and as a result, agriculture is prevalent in the region's rolling hills.
The Wingvale Region is an oceanside mountainous area between the Saddle River to the north and the San Palomino Desert to the south. Due to its fertile soil yet difficult terrain, it is majoritively inhabited by pegasi.
Along the western coast are isolated stretches of flat grasslands, on the southern end of which is Las Pegasus, known as the kingdom's most festive city.
